Letter to the Editor of the Dedham Times on March 17, 2023 from Denise Gilarde in support of Stephen Acosta

Dedham Voters,

As a proud Dedham educator and a parent of two graduates of Dedham Public Schools, I believe Stephen Acosta is a great fit for a seat on the Dedham School Committee. 

Working as a Paraprofessional at the ECEC for many years, I feel that Dedham has a lot to offer as a school district to students and educators. Stephen is the perfect example of a graduate who can represent the very best of our schools. I have also had the chance to talk at length with Stephen about paraprofessionals and members of the support staff in Dedham Public Schools, and I am confident that he understands and values the importance of our roles in the education of students here in Dedham.

I’ve known Stephen since he was younger, and I confidently believe that he will use his positive experiences from Dedham Public Schools to make decisions that are in the best interest of the students, educators, and the town. Having a younger voice involved in these discussions is really important, and Stephen is someone who understands what 21st Century learning is like. 

Stephen is dedicated, involved, and always eager to listen, and I think his background will help bring fresh ideas to the School Committee. His work in the State House also provides some really helpful experience to bring innovative solutions to challenges that may come up, and he will always be considerate of others when he makes decisions.

I am really excited to support Stephen and his vision, and I hope you’ll join me with one of your two votes for Stephen Acosta for Dedham School Committee on April 8.
