ABOUT STEPHEN

Stephen is the current Chair of the Dedham School Committee, bringing a special perspective to the Committee as a recent graduate of Dedham High School. Stephen works in the Massachusetts State Senate, where his belief in the importance of public service is on display, working on behalf of the people of the Commonwealth. A proud, lifelong Dedham resident, Stephen has a unique background as both a 5th-generation Dedhamite and the son of an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, which allows him to build bridges and work collaboratively towards common goals to benefit all of Dedham’s residents.

PRIORITIES

Stephen’s most important priorities are:

  • Generating more revenue to support and improve essential services, and finding creative ways to bring in more funds
  • Maintaining Dedham’s charming appeal for both current residents and those interested in joining our strong community
  • Increasing collaboration with other elected and appointed boards, departments, and Town Meeting Members to support their work and drive initiatives forward
  • Attracting small-locally owned businesses to town and increase Dedham’s economic diversity
  • Exploring targeted support for resident taxpayers, especially senior citizens on fixed incomes
  • Strengthening and stabilizing our town’s finances by supporting sustainable budgeting and smart growth

BACKGROUND

  • Current Chair of the Dedham School Committee, leading as the Committee proposed a restorative school operating budget, implemented a review of our educational model, and collaborated with other departments to begin developing a full municipal Facilities Master Plan
